Jessica Porter's Maternity Sessions
Jessica Porter anchors the news at Denver7. She also sat for two maternity sessions with me, four weeks apart, in two completely different keys.
The first, at 32 weeks, was a brand shoot for Cake Maternity: editorial frames of their pieces on a real expecting mom. Jessica ran wardrobe like the professional she is, and the frames came out polished, confident, exactly on brief. The second session, at 36 weeks, was hers. Personal. Glamour-forward. Flowing fabric in cream and ivory, light kept low and warm, a few frames in profile against a dark backdrop where the silhouette did all the work.
Same room. Same camera. Completely different photographs. That contrast is half of what I love about this job as a Denver maternity photographer: the session bends to the woman in front of the lens, not the other way around.
What Jessica brought
Trust, mostly. She showed up open, pitched her own ideas, and let me lead on light and lens. The first thirty minutes of any session are wardrobe, music, and conversation, because most moms need a minute to stop worrying about how they look and start being seen. Jessica got there fast. By the second setup the camera had stopped feeling like a camera.
