Alexandra Lewis anchors the news at 9NEWS. Twenty years on camera will do something for a person: fifteen minutes into her maternity session, my studio felt like her second set.
She arrived knowing the look she wanted. Glamour. Polish. A nod to the career she loves sitting right next to the chapter she's stepping into. So we built it: a deep charcoal backdrop with sculpted, hard light for frames that read editorial, then a softer setup in warm tone and flowing fabric where the polish fell away and the personal showed up. For one setup we pulled in a vintage broadcast microphone. Playful, not gimmicky. A wink at the job she isn't setting down, just sharing space with.

What twenty years on camera looks like in a maternity session
There was no warm-up period, which freed me to push. Sharper light. More deliberate angles. Longer holds on each setup. When someone belongs in front of a camera, my job shifts from coaxing to composing, and the frames show it.
Here's the part that matters if you're reading this pregnant and nervous: most moms walk in without twenty years of camera time, and it makes no difference. Posing is my job. Hands, chin, weight, breath. I got you. That's what eight years and 500+ sessions as a Denver maternity photographer trains into a person.

Why these images work
Maternity portraits shouldn't look like cute couch photos. They should look like portraits: images that hold up decades from now, framed in a hallway, not buried in a phone. The studio is built for exactly that kind of frame, and this session used all of it.
Twenty years from now, Alexandra's child will look at these and see precisely what their mother carried into their arrival. Strength, presence, intent.
