White Boots, Motion Blur: Chloe’s Creative Boudoir Studio Session
Slim sunglasses, a swish of motion blur, and a 34-week belly leading the frame like it owned the studio. It did. This is a session that every mama deserves.
Chloe decided to do a style-led boudoir maternity session for her studio shoot.
Chloe came in at 34 weeks with a big, beautiful bump and one clear brief: she wanted to feel empowered, and she wanted to have fun doing it. Nobody said those had to be different sessions. We built two looks around her. First the black set: thigh-high fishnets and a black cowgirl hat, all attitude. Then the white set: white cowgirl boots, white lace, and a white hat, bright and clean against her skin. Her locs moved through every motion-blur frame we shot, and the slim, narrow-frame sunglasses landed the whole thing somewhere between fashion editorial and Friday night.
Fine art maternity has spent decades showing one narrow version of pregnancy, and Black mothers have been underseen in this work for far too long. Sessions like Chloe’s are my favorite kind of correction. Boudoir studio work is where the studio’s sculpted lighting earns its keep: I start from a black frame and build the light around her curves until the screen makes her stop mid-laugh and look twice.
Empowered and fun are not opposites. The form on the boudoir page comes straight to me.
