A ‘90s Gap Ad With a Bump: Lily Chapman’s Studio Session
Knee-high socks, matching pajamas, and a bump that stole every frame it was in.

Lily came to the studio with a concept I loved immediately: clean, playful, straight out of a '90s Gap ad. She brought her husband and her daughter, and the three of them leaned all the way in. Between the family setups we kept it loose with knee-high socks and pajama looks, the kind of frames that make you grin before you even notice how good the light is. And as always, I carved out time for just Lily and the bump. Even in a family session, mom gets her own frames. That's the rule.
We shot the session two ways: digital for range, and Hasselblad medium format film for the frames that deserve real grain. I'm the only maternity photographer in Colorado shooting film at all, and a concept this nostalgic is exactly what it exists for. The lighting, the posing, the pacing between a toddler's attention span and a third trimester's energy, that's all handled in my studio. You show up pregnant. I handle everything else.
