What to bring to your session:

Outfits!

Outfits for your shoot. Depending on your package, you will need to supply your own outfits. (Nude does count as a look). Here are my recommendations based on each package:

  • Mini Session: 1 outfit/looks

  • Signature Shoot: 2 outfits/looks

  • Pregnancy Experience: 3 outfits/looks

Styling products and accessories!

Make sure to bring a comb, brush, pick to adjust hair as needed. Hair ties and clips are also very helpful. I also recommend bringing items to touch up makeup. If you’d like accessories, make sure to bring them as well. Hats, flowers, baby shoes and clothes, ultrasound photos, jackets, and jewelry can all make you feel like you at your shoot. Feel free to bring as many as you’d like! Lots of moms bring a large bag or suitcase to their shoot so they don’t have to worry about carrying everything. Feel free to bring as much as you’d like! I have a limited supply of hair ties and hair spray, but do not guarantee I will have these items in stock.

Water and snacks!

Having water and a small snack can help you feel your best at the shoot. Remember, you're pregnant, so your belly can look big. So feel free to eat before and during your shoot. I just ask you don’t bring messy items. I have a small selection of beverages and snacks in the studio space, but do not guarteee they will be in stock or fit your dietary needs. So it’s always a good idea to bring your own!

Outdoor specific items!

Booked an outdoor or adventure shoot? Be prepared to be outdoors in Colorado. Bring your extra outfits in an easy to cary bag or backpack. Water is a must, please don’t forget it. Comfortable walking shoes are also great. My outdoor shoots often involve a fair amount of walking on trails to the best shoot spot, so easy to slip on shoes are necessary. A jacket in the fall, winter, and spring is also important. Bring one that’s warmer than you think, as most maternity outfits look good in photos but are not warm. So bring a comfortable layer to throw on between shots. A towel or blanket can also help make changing more private in public spaces and nature.

FAQs

What if I am late?

Unfortunately I often have shoots scheduled back to back, so I cannot accommodate missed or delayed shoots. If you are 10 minutes late past your scheduled shoot time, there will be a late fee of $50.00 added to your shoot fee. If you are more than 20 minutes late, your shoot will be cancelled and you will be asked to reschedule with a rescheduling fee.

Do you provide outfits?

I have a client closest available in studio only. You can see examples at the bottom of this page. Other than that, you are responsible for specific outfits at your shoot.

What if the park or open space has a fee?

You will be responsible for paying any entrance or parking fees for outdoor shoots. Please have cash, as most Colorado State Parks and Open Space require cash payments for parking fees.

Can I bring my partner?

Absolutely! Feel free to bring your partner or friends. I welcome anyone and everyone to your shoot. There is no additional fee to have photos with your partner.

What if I don’t know how to pose?

Not to worry! I have worked with hundreds of expecting mamas. Not a single one wasn’t nervous to be in front of the camera with a baby bump. I promise that is normal. I will guide you through every individual pose and make you feel beautiful! I guarantee it.

Should I bring shoes?

The choice of shoes can be overwhelming. Lots of moms choose to do barefoot both in studio and outdoors. Heels can go a long way towards helping pose. Sneakers can look fabulous with the right outfit. I wouldn’t recommend stressing over shoes too much, as barefoot is my most popular choice and always looks good. Just make sure to bring walking shoes if you are planning on shooting outdoors!

Can I upgrade my shoot on the day of?

Enjoying your session? Don’t hesitate to ask to extend your shoot time or upgrade your package. I often have extended availability to keep shooting.

Recommend Outfits for Studio or Outdoors

  • Form Fit Dress

A solid color form-fit dress can make your bump look amazing. I recommend getting a maternity specific stretchy body con dress. Almost every clothing brand has some version of this.

  • Matching Bra and Underwear

A matching underwear set is another great option. Neutral colors look best. Also, branded or logo underwear is popular. I would also recommend a few different options in different colors.

  • Bodysuit

A body suit is also an easy and simple way to highlight your bump. Non maternity brands often look best. Get a size larger than you think you need, we can always clip it to make it fit better.

  • Belly Cut-Out Dress

This dress has gained popularity! It’s the perfect way to highlight your bump with elegance. Search for a belly cut out dress on Amazon, there are maternity and non-maternity options, both work!

  • Crop Top

Bring a crop top to match with one of your underwear colors, it’s an easy addition to a look you already have.

  • Flowy or Maxi Dress

Another simple and easy to find style. Look for a maternity specific dress that has is contoured around the chest with flowing fabric over the bump.

  • Jacket or Robe

Jean jackets, blazers, robes, and short kimonos can look beautiful with or without underwear.

  • Maternity Shoot Specific Dress

Lots of brands make maternity photography specific dresses. One of the most popular options is a lacy off the shoulder gown with a split front to show your bump. Search maternity photoshoot dress or gown.

  • Jeans and Bra

You already have this one! Bring a pair of jeans that you can wear unbuttoned with a lacy or neutral bra.

  • Fabric

One of the easiest outfits that’s guaranteed to fit. At any fabric store, look for a lace, mesh, or sheer fabric that speaks to you. I will help you style it to look your best!

  • Something Unique to You!

Don’t forget, it’s your shoot. Bring something your passionate about or that you feel makes you unique!

  • Implied or Covered Nude

The easiest outfit of them all is no outfit. This is a classic and popular style. If you are comfortable, feel free to try implied nude photos. You will still be covered, but be able to show your body in it’s truest form.

Recommend Outfits for Him

  • T-Shirt and Jeans

A solid colored, ironed, T-Shirt will look simple and elegant with any of your outfits.

  • Flannel or Patterned Button Down

Make sure this shirt fits well. Button downs can easily look boxy. Larger patterns photography better than smaller ones.

  • Long Sleeve Sweater

Best for more formal looks. Slightly more form fit is better than too large and loose. Solid colors are alway best.

  • Shirtless

Have him join you showing off the bump! Shirtless can look great in studio if you want a more intimate shoot.

After Your Shoot

Look for an email from me with a full gallery of photos.

I will email you a gallery of the best images from your shoot. You can select the images you’d like to have retouched from there. Make sure to double check spam as the email will come from no-reply@smugmug.com (my website host).

Purchase additional images.

If you’d like more than your package photos, feel free to add as many additional as you’d like! They are $29 each or 5 for $109. I also offer 3 images free with any referral. I will keep a gallery of your unedited images for 60 days should you decide to purchase more.

I do not give out unedited images.

I know it’s tempting to want all of your images from a shoot. But without retouching, they won’t look finished. There are also often times more images than you could make use of. My packages are by design to allow the amount of time necessary to get the right amount of polished shots.

Retouching normally takes 1-2 Weeks after Selection (up to 30 days)

Once you make selections, it will be 1-2 weeks to receive your edited images. This can vary greatly depending on current client load, speed of making selections, and holidays. I appreciate your patience during this time, I know you’re excited to see your images. I allow enough time to custom retouch each individual shot to make them look perfect for you! I will email you a gallery of the finished images with all the high-resolution downloads as well as a private print shop!
